Financial Management Series

October 27, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - November 17, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

This workshop is aimed at entrepreneurs who own or are close to launching a small business and want to learn more about financial management

Summary

This four-part series covers financial management for small businesses, including budgeting and bookkeeping, creating and using the three financial statements, how to conduct a cash flow analysis, and creating a financial forecast. The sessions are hands-on and participatory, so come ready to engage with your instructor and your peers. It’s organized as a cohort, so you’ll sign up once for all four sessions.

Audience

This workshop is aimed at entrepreneurs who own or are close to launching a small business and want to learn more about financial management . The more actual financials you have to apply the concepts to, the more concrete and useful you’ll find the material. Therefore, this course is likely not appropriate for entrepreneurs who are still defining their business idea and/or are far from launching.

Logistics*

The course will be from 5:30 – 7:30pm on the following dates:

Thursday, October 27: Business Budgeting: Planning for Profit and Success

Thursday, November 3: Bookkeeping Basics: What Exactly is Bookkeeping and Why Should We Do It?

Thursday, November 10: Monitoring Financial Performance: Interpreting Financial Statements & Cash Flow Projections

Thursday, November 17: Financial Forecasting: Why Forecasting is Critical to Your Business

*Registration is for the entire 4-part series, NOT individual events.

Each session will last approximately 2 hours including time for discussion and questions.

What to expect

The content is practical. You’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned to your own business.

The material will be challenging if you’re new to the topics, especially cash flow analysis. You’ll be provided with a coursebook you can use to take notes and reference later. Be prepared to ask questions.

The sessions are participatory. Given the hands-on nature of this program, in-person attendance is encouraged. Come ready to discuss concepts and apply them to your own business.

Prior to the course start, you will receive an email from the WISE WBC team with additional course details and parking information.

You will also receive a link on your confirmation page and in your confirmation email asking you to complete a WISE information form if you have not before. Please complete the form at the link in the confirmation prior to the event.
