WISE Connect Sessions are free, one-on-one conversations with a WISE Connector who can answer your business questions, help you explore your options, or point you toward the right resources. Each session is focused on your specific needs and designed to give you real direction in a single conversation.

WISE Connect Sessions are available to anyone — whether you're thinking about starting a business, already running one, or somewhere in between. You don't need to have a business plan or be at a certain stage to connect with us.

Nothing! WISE Connect Sessions are completely free.

Most Connect Sessions take place over the phone or via Zoom, so you can participate from wherever is most convenient for you. If you'd prefer to meet in person, send us an email at wisecenter@syr.edu, and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

Sessions are typically a focused conversation lasting around 15-20 minutes, though the length may vary depending on your questions and needs. The appointments are booked for 30 minutes.

You can ask about just about anything related to starting or running a business. Common topics include how to get started, where to find funding, licensing and registration questions, marketing ideas, and what resources are available to you. If your question requires deeper support, your Connector will help point you in the right direction.

Click here to book a session with a WISE Connector. Clicking the link will take you to Calendly, an online scheduling tool. You do not need to create an account or download anything to use it. First, you'll be asked to fill out a short form with some basic information, including your location, which we use to match you with the right Connector. After that, you'll be able to choose a date and time that works for you from the available options. Once you select a time and confirm your booking, you'll receive an email with your appointment details.

Anything that helps your Connector understand where you are and what you need is valuable. This might include what stage your business is in, what industry or type of business you're interested in, what challenges you're facing, or what specific questions you'd like to answer. If you've already taken steps like researching your market, registering your business, or writing a business plan, let your Connector know — it will help them give you the most relevant guidance. Don't worry if you're just getting started and don't have much to share yet. That's exactly what Connect Sessions are for.
