SUMMARY:Financial Management for Small Businesses
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is aimed at entrepreneurs who own or are close to launching a small business and want to learn more about financial management\n\n\nSummary \nThis three-part series covers financial management for small businesses\, including budgeting and bookkeeping\, creating and using the three financial statements\, doing cash flow analysis\, the types of financing\, and how to get loan ready. The sessions are hands-on and participatory\, so come ready to engage with your instructor and your peers. It’s organized as a cohort\, so you’ll sign up once for all three sessions. \nAudience \nThis workshop is aimed at entrepreneurs who own or are close to launching a small business and want to learn more about financial management. The more actual financials you have to apply the concepts to\, the more concrete and useful you’ll find the material. Therefore\, this course is likely not appropriate for entrepreneurs who are still defining their business idea and/or are far from launching. \nLogistics* \nThe course will be from 6-8pm on the following dates: \nMonday\, March 22nd: Budgeting & Bookkeeping \nMonday\, March 29th: Financial statements & cash flow analysis \nMonday\, April 5th: Financing options & panel of local bankers and financiers \n*Registration is for the entire 3-part series\, NOT individual events. \nEach session will last approximately 2 hours including time for discussion and questions. \nWhat to expect \nThe content is practical. You’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned to your own business and can ask questions of our on-call accountant after the sessions. \nThe material will be challenging if you’re new to the topics\, especially cash flow analysis. You’ll be provided with a coursebook you can use to take notes and reference later. Be prepared to ask questions. \nThe sessions are participatory. Keep your camera on\, if you can\, and be ready to discuss concepts and do activities in breakout rooms. \n \n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive an email from Eventbrite with a link to access the webinar. Please save this email and be sure to check your SPAM folder if you don’t see it in your email inbox. \nYou will also receive a link on your confirmation page and in your confirmation email asking you to complete a WISE information form if you have not before. SUMMARY:International Women’s Day: #ChooseToChallenge
DESCRIPTION:From challenge comes change. In celebration of women’s achievements\, this 90 minute event will explore what it takes to create change.\n\n\nThrough the stories of successful professionals\, founders and small business owners who meet challenge head on\, we will learn what drives them in pursuit of personal and professional success\, equality and inclusiveness. \nAgenda: \nMarch 8\, 12:30 – 2pm \n•	Welcome \n•	Keynote \n•	Breakout Panel Sessions #1 or 2 (choose during registration) \n•	Closing \n*You will receive a Zoom link for the event by the morning of 3/8\, emailed to you. There will be only one Zoom link for the event. \nPanel 1: #ChoosetoChallenge: How Embracing Challenge can Drive Change \nPanel Members: Catherine Richardson (moderator)\, Kimberly Townsend\, Kelsey Davis\, Caeresa Richardson \nFrom challenge comes change. Think for a moment about the pioneers and the leaders you look up to as role models. They likely have something in common – the ability to embrace change. Join a discussion with four powerful change agents who are embracing challenge and entrepreneurial thinking as a mode of operation. \nDuring this session\, participants will: \n•	Explore changing the status quo through the lens of a GenZ digital tech start-up\, a pioneer in law\, a small business owner who succeeded through the pandemic\, and a leader in healthcare operating a large and innovative organization in the most challenging times imaginable. \n•	Discuss how entrepreneurial thinking impacts decision making in times of crisis \n•	Hear best practices for cultivating a growth mindset \n•	Identify ways to apply this information in the workplace or small business \nPanel 2: The Art of Sistering: The Importance of Diverse Women Supporting Each Other in the Workplace \nPanel Members: Gwen Webber-McLeod (moderator)\, Indaria Jones\, Bryony Grealish\, Michelle Horton\, Diana Jaramillo \nIt is all too common to hear this statement from women in the workforce\, “I prefer working with men. Working with women is too difficult.” \nTrend data indicates\, within the next 10 years 85% of new entrants into the workforce will be female\, millennial and people of color. Given this demographic reality it is imperative for women to be intentional about building high trust relationships with the diverse groups of women they work with daily. In fact\, many of the most successful women in our region would say this is a core leadership competency for emerging and established women leaders. \nDuring this session participants will: \n•	Explore why it is important for women to support other women in the workplace \n•	Discuss the dynamics of leading at the intersection of gender and/or race \n•	Hear best practices for supporting women in the workplace from a diverse panel of women practicing this leadership competency \n•	Identify ways to apply this information in the workplace
