U.K. Review Calls for More Women on Boards

A U.K. review of women in business recommended that FTSE 100 companies voluntarily double the number of women board members within four years—and warned that mandatory rules may be needed if no progress is made.

The review, carried out by the former Standard Chartered Chairman Mervyn Davies, recommends that women should occupy a quarter of boardroom positions in FTSE 100 companies by 2015. Currently, 12.5% of board members in the top 100 are female, a situation Lord Davies described as “not good enough.”
